Mice

Mice

Homeowners across the Des Moines metro will often encounter mice in their homes.  Your home is an inviting place that provides shelter and warmth as temperatures drop during the fall and winter months in Iowa.

There are two species of mice commonly found in central Iowa--house mice and field mice.  House mice are the most common and are usually found in cities and urban areas.  The house mouse will live in buildings and homes throughout the year regardless of the outside temperature.  Field mice, as the name implies, are typically found in rural areas.  However, they are no stranger to the suburbs or housing developments as new homes are built in areas they inhabit.  Field mice live outside during the warmer months and migrate inside as the seasons change from summer to fall.  Both species of mice only need a space of 1/4" to gain access into your home.  Part of our treatment plan for mice is looking for gaps and crevices that could be used as entrance points.  Closing off these spots goes a long way in keeping your home mouse free.
